Lenexa construction design office involved in big Texas A&M housing project
The Weitz Co. said it has been selected to design and build a large student housing complex at Texas A&M University in College Station.
The company’s Lenexa office, which has 45 employees, led the negotiations and preconstruction services on the project. Des Moines-based Weitz said the design and building construction part of the $360 million project was valued at $245 million.
The Park West housing project will accommodate 3,402 students in more than 1,300 units, ranging from studios to four-bedroom layouts. The approximately 1.8 million square-foot project will feature swimming pools, hot tubs, grills, outdoor restrooms, fitness centers, study and gathering spaces and game rooms. The complex will also include an eight-story parking garage, and retail and office space.
