JoyceKC notebook: Zaina relocates downtown; Industry Video Bar closes; Big Biscuit for Raymore
Downtown’s Zaina restaurant relocates
Six years after opening at 25 E. 12th St., Zaina Mediterranean Cuisine & Catering lost its lease and has relocated.
Joe Semaan remodeled a space at 1108 Grand Blvd. and reopened Zaina there in January. The menu includes hummus, Greek salad, gyros, Kafta Kabobs, Shawarma, curry, biryani and baklava.
He named the restaurant after one of his four daughters, Zaina Semaan, who also works in the restaurant.
Industry Video Bar closes
Industry Video Bar in the Uptown Theater, at 3700 Broadway, has closed.
It posted this statement on its website: “We regret to inform our patrons that despite the success and all the amazing events that Industry Video Bar has had for the last two years, the owners of the Uptown Theater (UGA LLC) have chosen to discontinue the management agreement with ECCO Holdings LLC, the creators and management team of Industry Video Bar. Therefore the Uptown Theater has closed Industry Video Bar.”
The owners couldn’t be reached for comment.
Larry Sells, owner of the Uptown Theater, said: “The concept wasn’t working. We are going to change the format and have live music and food, and lease the room for private events.”
Sells is still deciding on a name and is taking suggestions.
