Westport eatery opening locations in North Kansas City & Overland Park

Nearly two years after opening in Westport, Doughnut Lounge is expanding.

The locally owned artisan doughnut, coffee and cocktail lounge will open in the former Judi’s Bakery Cafe building at 1250 Burlington St., North Kansas City, in early 2018.

Its new food truck is parked out front to help advertise the new location and the food truck also will be available on weekends for events and weddings.

Owner Jake Randall also moved his production facility to the North Kansas City building since his Westport kitchen couldn’t keep up with demand for catering orders. Kansas City Baking Co. owns the building and shares the production space.

Doughnut Lounge also will open a location at 7926 Santa Fe Drive in downtown Overland Park in early 2018.

“We realized a lot of our clientele and the people who support us are north and south. We’re kind of a destination place,” Randall said. “We realized we could do a lot more if we take our operation and expand and become more of a presence instead of just being in Westport.”

Doughnut Lounge opened in mid-December 2015 at 4117 Pennsylvania Ave. Randall plans to celebrate Sunday, Dec. 17, with drink specials and a free glazed doughnut with purchase, as well as live music and balloon art.
