Westport’s Ruby Jean’s Juicery is expanding.
Owner Chris Goode plans to open a location in the Town Pavilion, 1111 Main St., Suite 165, on March 1.
Goode opened Ruby Jean’s Juicery at 4001 Broadway in mid-2015, naming it after his late grandmother. Ruby Jean would gather her family and friends together over soul food. But Goode said the diet — with its high amounts of sodium and sugar — led to her early death.

He wanted to promote that same sense of community, but over healthy items such as cold-pressed juices made with raw fruits and vegetables.
Some of the hand-crafted juices have Kansas City names, such as the Heart of America with beets, strawberries, red apple and red cabbage, and Vine Street Greens with cucumber, kale, spinach, green apple and lime.
Under “Truly Healthy Bites,” he offers such items as acai bowls, avocado toast, loaded oatmeal and sweet potato brownies. Ruby Jean’s Juicery also has performance shakes and “Grandma’s Smoothies,” including Java Butter with cold brew coffee, banana, peanut butter and dates.
Goode also is licensing a Springfield location, which is scheduled to open in early 2017 and he plans to open a distribution kitchen at 3626 Main St., with a retail section selling cleanses and packaged meals, by February 2017.
Owner Jonny Doelling uses naturally leavened dough in his Neapolitan-style pizzas. One specialty pizza will be the “Street Car Pie” with Plowboys’ burnt ends, mozzarella, caramelized onions, Parmigiano-Reggiano and Plowboys KC Crossroads barbecue sauce. He’ll also offer pepperoni and sweet peppers, Margherita, heirloom tomato, and bacon and potatoes pizzas.
Doelling grew up in Lee’s Summit but has spent the last decade in New York and Florida. His wife, Ashley, has a culinary degree and is a professional baker. He started making pizzas five years ago so he could hang out in the kitchen with her. Now they live in Lee’s Summit, where Doelling has built a pizza oven in their backyard.
Plowboys took over the former Ingredient space — at 1111 Main, Suite 120, in the Town Pavilion — which included a brick pizza oven that Doelling will now use.
His new pizza pop-up will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday starting Dec. 29 and may later expand its hours.
Plowboys will have a grand opening celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Doelling plans to hand out free samples of his pizza after the ribbon cutting. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned food to donate to Kookers Kare.
