The company was founded in Ontario in 1995 and has area locations in Columbia, Lawrence and Manhattan. Locally owned Natasha’s Mulberry & Mott is relocating to make way for the redevelopment of the Halls building on the Country Club Plaza.

Natasha’s plans to close at 4745 Central St. at 9 p.m. Saturday and will reopen in the former Superlatives space at 320 Ward Parkway by Sept. 19. The larger space will allow Natasha’s to carry even more desserts, pastries and packaged goods. It could be in the Superlatives spot for up to a year before returning to the redeveloped Halls building.

Officials with Zoe’s Kitchen confirmed plans to open a restaurant in a new multi-tenant building in Corbin Park, 135th Street and Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, in summer 2015.

Zoe’s Kitchen, Plano, Texas, was founded in 1995 and now has more than 110 locations in 15 states. The menu includes pita sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, salads, and entrees like salmon kabobs, chicken roll-ups, Greek chicken marinara, and veggie pita pizza.

Merriam city officials said Taco Bell wants to open a location at 5930 Ikea Way, Merriam, between Jack in the Box and the new Ikea store. Taco Bell officials declined to comment.

In an update on a March 2014 post, Merriam’s new McDonald’s is scheduled to open at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 15 at 8915 Johnson Drive, near the new Ikea store at Interstate 35 and Johnson Drive. Papa John’s previously operated on the site.

The new McDonald’s will have a large dining area with a community table, two-lane drive-through, digital menu board, free Wi-Fi, big screen TVs and interactive games. The first 100 people through the drive-through and the first 100 people at the in-store counter will receive one free meal a week for one year. Other grand opening specials will include 99-cent Big Macs and free small McCafe Coffee.

The restaurant is owned by Cassandra and Ken Savage, who also own and operate a 1950s-style McDonald’s on Johnson Drive in Mission, along with two other McDonald’s in Kansas City and one in Overland Park.

McDonald’s at 9501 Westgate Drive, Lenexa, is scheduled to close on Sept. 29. A new Overland Park McDonald’s is scheduled to open about a mile away at 11600 W. 95th St. in early October.
