Wife charged with Independence murder

Kristin A. Stephens, whose husband, Charles E. Stephens, was found dead inside his Independence home on March 7, was arrested Friday in Cass County on a warrant for first-degree murder. The murder weapon, a rifle, was found under a whirlpool tub after police searched the couple’s residence.
