Gal Gadot stole the show in “Batman v Superman.” Now her superhero gets her own movie, an origin story of her Amazonian homeland and her valiant deeds in World War I. Directed by Patty Jenkins (who grew up in Lawrence). Rated PG-13. Time: 2:21.

“Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie”

Opens at 5 p.m. Thursday

Dav Pilkey’s hilarious kids books get an animated adaptation, with Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch voicing the obstreperous kids and Ed Helms as their delusional principal. Rated PG. Time: 1:29.

“Churchill”

Opens Friday

The beleaguered British prime minister (Brian Cox) faces mounting tensions as the Allied D-Day invasion nears. John Slattery is an uncooperative Gen. Eisenhower. Rated PG. Time: 1:50.

“The Wedding Plan”

Opens Friday

When the groom backs out, an Orthodox woman decides to go ahead with her wedding, saying God will provide. But she has only one month to find a substitute. In Hebrew with subtitles. Rated PG. Time: 1:50.
