End-of-the-year partiers can go to almost any bar or restaurant in the area to eat a meal and have some drinks. But if you’re like many people, you’re looking for a special way to celebrate on New Year’s Eve.
Have we got some ideas for you.
High on the list is the Madrid Theatre, where you’ll find what is being billed as “the first annual Midnight Rodeo.” Other than the fact that it can’t be an annual event if it’s the first one, this does appear to be unique among Kansas City’s major New Year’s Eve offerings.
It will have a distinct country flavor, with entertainment by Travis Marvin of Ottawa, Kan., and DJ Mr. Kristopher.
Never miss a local story.
Like virtually every other local New Year’s Eve celebration, Midnight Rodeo also will offer lots of alcoholic beverages, including a midnight champagne toast.
Aside from the nearly universal theme of alcohol indulgence, however, each of the events we’ve designated below has its own special flavor.
If country music isn’t your cup of tea, how about vibes from south of the border? You’ll find that at NYE Fiesta Latina Kansas City at the Guadalupe Center.
If you think you might enjoy partying among historic aircraft or taking flight tours over downtown and the Country Club Plaza, the Hangar 9 NYE Party at the National Airline History Museum is for you.
If your tastes run toward brie and pesto with fresh strawberries, check out the Champagne Chic New Year’s Eve at the View @ Briarcliff.
The area’s offerings also include musical acts, plays, comedians and even a couple of events for the kiddos (at Science City and Wonderscope Children’s Museum).
