Highs to return to the 80s this week in Kansas City before plunging next week

Kansas City will get another round of rain early Tuesday, according to FOX4 meteorologist Joe Lauria.

“As we head towards daybreak (Tuesday) morning, thunderstorms will be ongoing in the area,” said Lauria, who provided a weather update to The Star. “And then they’ll start to push off after about 9 or 10 o’clock. There still might be some lingering showers even through lunchtime.”

Some areas have already gotten nearly three inches of rain the past few days.

“The soils are getting saturated after a very dry three-and-a-half weeks of August,” Lauria said. “All of a sudden now, Mother Nature has turned on the spigot.”

Tuesday is expected to be muggy with a high of 76.

Temperatures in the 80s return Wednesday and continue through Sunday.

“Then a big change for next week,” Lauria said. “Around Labor Day, a drop in the temperatures.”

Lows could descend into the 40s next week.
