Evening commute conditions improve, but freezing temps stick around for Chiefs
Conditions for the evening commute are set to improve after Friday morning’s slippery mess, according to FOX4 meteorologist Michelle Bogowith.
Temperatures will climb above freezing by 3 p.m., said Bogowith, who provides weather updates to The Star.
She said that’s when rain showers will begin, instead of freezing rain and sleet.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures were already approaching the freezing mark in Kansas City, which could end the freezing rain earlier than expected.
Rain should continue through the night when temperatures will bump up slightly.
But by Saturday mid-morning, Bogowith said, temperatures will tumble into the 20s.
“If there is any moisture at the surface, it is possible we will see flash freezing occur,” Bogowith said. That leads to more slick spots.
