It appears that Jack Sock may be ready to make another run in the French Open.

Sock needed five sets to survive his first round match, but he easily defeated German qualifier Dustin Brown 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in the second round Wednesday in Paris.

The victory gave Sock, who played in high school at Blue Valley North, a spot in the third round of the Grand Slam tournament for the third year in a row. His run last year ended with a loss to Rafael Nadal in the fourth round.

Sock hit 40 winners in the match and took advantage of 35 unforced errors by Brown.

Next up for Sock is a third-round match against Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who defeated Marco Trungelliti 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.

Sock is one of only two American men left in the draw. The other is John Isner, who advanced to the third round by beating Kyle Edmund of Britain 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Sock and Isner could give the U.S. a pair of men in the fourth round of the French Open for the first time in 15 years.
