Jack Sock moved a step closer to winning a championship in men’s doubles Friday at Wimbledon.

Sock and partner Vasek Pospisil, who are unseeded, defeated fifth-seeded Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals at the All England Club in London.

Sock, who played in high school at Blue Valley North and won four states championships, and Pospisil will play brothers Bob and Mike Bryan for the title Saturday. The Bryans, the No. 1 seed who formerly played for the Kansas City Explorers, beat Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-2 in the other semifinal.

Sock and Pospisil were helped by seven aces, and they won four of eight chances on break points.

If Sock gets the title, it would be his second in a major. He and partner Melanie Oudin won the mixed doubles title at the U.S. Open in 2011. Sock, 21, was also the U.S. Open junior boys champion in 2010.

The Bryans have a record 15 Grand Slam doubles titles, including three at Wimbledon.
