BV North grad Jack Sock reaches French Open’s third round in doubles, too
Jack Sock is having success in men’s doubles as well as singles at the French Open.
Sock, who won his second-round singles match on Thursday, and partner Joao Sousa beat 16th-seeded Pablo Cuevas and Horacio Zeballos 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of doubles competition on Friday in Paris.
Sock, a former Blue Valley North High star, and Sousa, who is from Portugal, will next play Andrey Golubev and Samuel Groth. Golubev and Groth upset fourth-seeded David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco 7-6 (9-7) 6-4.
Up next for Sock in singles is a match Saturday against Dusan Lajovic of Serbia.
If he gets past that match, Sock could meet top-seeded Rafael Nadal in the round of 16.
