Jack Sock’s hopes for a French Open title were dashed Tuesday.

Sock, who played in high school at Blue Valley North, and doubles partner Vasek Pospisil, the No. 2 seeded-team in men’s doubles, lost to fifth-seeded Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau 6-3, 6-3 in a quarterfinal match in Paris.

A potential rematch of Sock and Pospisil’s riveting, five-set victory over Bob and Mike Bryan last year at Wimbledon is no longer a possibility, but the Bryan twins, who have a history with the Kansas City Explorers, are seeded No. 1 at Roland Garros. They moved on to the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 victory over No. 7 Marcin Matkowski and Nenad Simonjo.

The Bryans snatched the third set with haste in a mere 33 minutes and surrendered just one service break in the entire match.

Next on the dockett is the sixth-seeded Italian team of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini. The Bryans can capture their 17th major doubles title and 107th tournament win overall with two more victories at the French Open.
