Minor-league player hits into a double play — off the umpire
This goes in the book as a 1-6-3 double play. Well, maybe it should go 1-U-6-3.
OK, I don’t know because I’ve never seen anything like this before: On Thursday night, the Dayton Dragons (the Reds’ Class A affiliate) turned a double play against South Bend. A ball of the bat of the Cubs’ P.J. Higgins hit the pitcher then caromed off the umpire to the shortstop. Crazy, right?
Was that a 1-Blue-6-3 double play?! @SportsCenter #SCtop10 pic.twitter.com/1qFdwTVnIp
