A trade between the Cubs and Yankees had some Royals fans thinking it might be time to deal closer Wade Davis.

How did we get to this point? Start with this: Jon Heyman reported that the Cubs have a deal in place to acquire closer Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees. The price? Minor-league shortstop Gleyber Torres (the Cubs’ top prospect), minor-league outfielders Billy McKinney (the Cubs’ No. 5 prospect) and Rashad Crawford, and pitcher Adam Warren.

Then add in a report from Jeff Passan, who said the Nationals had asked about Davis. The Royals reportedly wanted right-hander Lucas Giolito, who is ranked as the top prospect in baseball by MLB.com.

Well, some Royals fans were dreaming big about what the team could get for Davis, who is under contract for 2017, in a trade.
