For Pete's Sake

Padres third baseman made catch in stands and ball was covered in cheese

In recent years, it’s been common to see a Royals player dive into the stands to make a catch.

Think Mike Moustakas in the 2014 American League Championship Series or Alex Gordon in Chicago a year ago.

But this is something we’ve never seen before: a player went for a catch in the stands. He got the ball and it was covered in nacho cheese.

This is San Diego third baseman Yangervis Solarte, who made the cheesy catch Friday against the Giants. Even the umpire had to laugh.

What a cheeseball. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist)
