Royals fan makes video called: ‘Activate: Wade Davis Cyborg’
If you are on Twitter but are not watching or listening to a Royals game, you can always tell when Wade Davis is coming into the game.
That’s because the Twitter memes appear. Many portray Davis as a cyborg, because of his historic two-plus seasons in the Royals bullpen.
Royals fan Joshua Weinstock has taken it a step further. He made a video called “Activate: Wade Davis CYBORG | KC Royals Protector.”
“I’ve made several goofy videos in the past that are related to some of my favorite sports teams such as the Royals and Chiefs,” Weinstock wrote in an email. “These videos are intended to make people laugh and get them talking about our great city’s teams. Regarding the ‘Activate: Wade Davis Cyborg’ video, the idea was not originally mine. I’m not sure who first started calling our bullpen pitchers cyborgs, but its something that’s been trending on Twitter for the last couple of seasons. And closer Wade Davis is the most lethal of the Royals bullpen killing machines! He’s gotta have his own theme song and video that people can share every time he comes out to lay waste to the enemy.”
Weinstock said he made six versions of the song. Working one or two hours each night, it took about a week to complete, he said
“The intro and outro narration was recorded by a professional voice over artist that I hired,” Weinstock wrote. “I wanted the intro and outro to sound kind of a like a 70’s super hero cartoon.”
