Joel Embiid hasn’t played a minute for the Philadelphia 76ers this season, but the former Kansas star was in the limelight this past week.
The Philadelphia Inquirer quoted an anonymous source who said the 7-foot Embiid, who is recovering from a broken foot, was pushing 300 pounds. The Inquirer also said that Embiid had a dust-up with the 76ers’ assistant strength and conditioning coach and he had missed some conditioning sessions.
Embiid, who was listed at 250 pounds in last year’s Kansas media guide, denied the weighty claim.
“I don’t weigh that,” Embiid told CSNPhilly.com, which reported that Embiid had reached at most 275 pounds at one point.
