Jimmy Conrad blown away by turnout at impromptu scrimmage in Kansas City

Former Wizards defender Jimmy Conrad pulled up to the practice field at Rockhurst University on Saturday, and he was bummed.

Conrad, who lives in New York with his wife and their two kids, had put out the word via his many social media channels that he was going to have a scrimmage, and when he arrived, there was an organized practice taking place.

Or so Conrad thought.

It was actually people warming up ahead of the open scrimmage Conrad had announced. He was thrilled.

So many people (more than 40) showed that the scrimmage turned into a five-on-five tournament. Conrad’s team, which included another former Wizards player, Sasha Victorine.

After the games ended, Conrad signed autographs and gave advice to anyone who asked. The advice included everything from defensive tips to making an impression in a camp. He took a group picture with those who stuck around, and shared the results of the matches on Snapchat.

Conrad had a message for Kansas City fans and talked about the scrimmage in the video above.
