Royals, Orioles get out the vote in election between Kauffman Stadium and Camden Yards

Last month, a website created a bracket of Major League Baseball stadiums, and invited fans to vote for their favorite ballparks.

Sports on Earth seeded the stadiums based on age. Fenway Park was the top seed, while Marlins Park was No. 30.

Kauffman Stadium was seeded No. 6 and easily dispatched of Citi Field in the first round. After that came wins against Great American Ball Park and Dodger Stadium.

It’s down to the Final Four, and fans are voting for two races: Kauffman Stadium vs. Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and Fenway Park vs. PNC Park.

The voting ends at noon on Thursday. On Monday morning, Kauffman Stadium had a huge lead: 69 percent to 31 percent.

Then the Orioles tweeted this:

Some Orioles fans heeded the call, and were frankly stunned that their team’s home wasn’t winning the competition.

The Orioles’ get-out-the vote campaign has made a noticeable difference. The voting as of Tuesday morning was much closer: Kauffman Stadium was ahead 55.75 percent to 44.25 percent.

Here is the where fans can vote in both races.

UPDATE: The Royals have responded with a call of their own.
