Royals get permission to wear special gold jerseys, hats at every Friday home game
They’re baaaaaaaaaack.
The Royals announced Tuesday that they have been given permission from Major League Baseball to wear their special gold-trimmed jerseys and hats for every home Friday game for the rest of the season.
The jerseys and hats were worn for the two games against the New York Mets and that was expected to be the end of it. The defending World Series champion has the option to wear the special uniforms at the start of the season.
However, the Royals liked them so much they wanted to keep wearing them.
“These uniforms are representative of a huge accomplishment for our franchise and after seeing the reception they received, not only from our fans, but equally as important, our players, we decided to seek permission to at least wear them periodically during the 2016 season,” Kevin Uhlich, Royals’ Senior Vice President of Business Operations said in a news release. “We’d like to thank Major League Baseball, Majestic and New Era for their efforts in allowing us the opportunity to enjoy these one-of-a-kind uniforms throughout this year.”
Naturally, the jerseys and hats are on sale as well.
