Royals' special gold-lettered jerseys for first two games of season are on sale

You already knew that the Royals’ first two games of the season are going to be special.

There will be the raising of the World Series champions flag in the opener and then the ring ceremony in the second game.

The Royals will be wearing special uniforms, too.

Their white home jerseys will have the usual script “Royals,” but it will be embossed in gold with blue thread and blue numbers. The players’ numbers embossed in gold with blue thread. The numbers will be in blue.

A World Series champions patch will be on the sleeve.

The “KC” on the hats will be gold and the 2015 World Series Champions logo will be on the side in gold.

The back of the hats will have the MLB logo (silhouetted batter) will be in gold as well.

Teams that win the World Series have the option to wear the special gold jerseys early in the season. The Giants and Cardinals have worn them previously.

Shortstop Alcides Escobar approved of the jerseys.

“That’s nice, man, I like it,” Escobar said.

The Royals said the jerseys and hats will be sold exclusively at the Majestic Team Store at Kauffman Stadium from March 24 through March 30 and at MLB.com. Other retailers will sell them later in the month.
