Depending on your point of view, it’s either a good thing or a bad thing that President Obama is picking Kansas to win the NCAA Tournament.
You can either be excited that the Commander in Chief has confidence in the Jayhawks.
Or perhaps you’re a student of history and know that Obama picked KU to win the national title in 2010 and 2011. It didn’t happen, of course.
Obama’s NCAA bracket was revealed Wednesday, hours before he is expected to announce his Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacancy left by Antonin Scalia. Rumors are he will nominate Sri Srinivasan, who graduated from Lawrence High School and played basketball there with Danny Manning.
Perhaps that's a good sign for KU fans as well.
As usual, Obama’s picks were revealed in an ESPN segment with Andy Katz.
The president picked the Jayhawks to knock off Michigan State in the Final Four and then beat North Carolina in the title game.
“Bill Self owes me,” Obama joked. “I’m putting Kansas in here. Coach, I'm just teasing. I'm not putting pressure on you. But I think the Jayhawks in a squeaker get past UNC.’'
