Watch Cam Newton step back from fumble in fourth quarter of Super Bowl 50
Oh, my.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had a horrendous time in Super Bowl 50. It was going to be a forgettable game for him.
Then he did something that will likely be remembered for years to come. In the fourth quarter, Carolina trailed 16-10 when Newton fumbled and he didn’t seem to try and make an effort to recover the ball.
What do you think? Did Newton avoid the scrum and not try to recover the ball? Whatever the case, Newton was roundly ridiculed after Denver won 24-10:

Let's all thank Cam Newton for giving us 9 months of debate material.

I've been around. Cam Newton will be remembered for not diving for the loose ball. Like, long remembered.

ZERO effort by Newton to recover that ball. Not tough enough to get in the pile???? Wow.

UPDATE: The bad vibes continued into the postgame news conference and that generated even more disgust among fans.

Hardest thing to do after a "big game" loss is speak to the media (yes I know I had to a lot) but what was that Cam Newton?! #MVP #SB50

Cam Newton can learn something from his coach. Rivera handled himself as he always does - like a pro. #SB50.

Cam Newton's going to get crushed for that press conference. And he should. We'll see how he responds to real dislike now.
