Eight hours before tipoff between Kansas and Kentucky and cheers were already emanating from Allen Fieldhouse.
ESPN’s “College GameDay” was in the venerable arena, and there was the usual collection of crazy signs and, um, expert analysis.
There was also a marriage proposal (she said yes), and ESPN even picked all-time all-stars for Kansas and Kentucky and pitted them in a simulated game. The Jayhawks won 110-106 behind Danny Manning’s 32 points and Wilt Chamberlain’s triple-double (13 points, 20 rebounds, 10 blocks).
The anchors also had a debate about some of the issues surrounding the game (let me just say this: Leave the Monmouth Bench alone). Also, Justin Tucker, a finance major, failed to make a basket in the halfcourt shot challenge.
