For Pete's Sake

Former Kansas State star Jordy Nelson didn’t play this past season for the Green Bay Packers.

Nelson tore an ACL in his knee in the Packers’ second preseason game and the Packers undoubtedly missed his presence. After all, he caught 98 passes for 1,519 yards during the 2014 season.

While Nelson was off the football field, he kept busy with his rehab — and he found time to work as a substitute third-grade teacher.

In a video for Dove Men+Care, Nelson said he was asked to fill in for a teacher who was undergoing cancer treatment. It was at the school his 5-year-old son, Royal, attended.

In the 2007 Kansas State media guide, Nelson’s career goals included teaching and coaching and he majored in secondary education.
