Hard as it is to believe, there once was a time when the Royals weren’t World Series champions and the Chiefs were a sure-bet to miss the playoffs.

And while the Chiefs were once 1-5 and things looked bleak, it’s hard to find anyone who believes they aren’t headed to the playoffs. Here are five sites that look at playoff odds and they all are favorable for the Chiefs.
The New York Times has an interactive featured that allows you to show how a team’s chances change based on whether they win or lose any given game. Currently, the Chiefs have a 95 percent of making the playoffs. However, if you pick the Chiefs to beat the Chargers and the Jets to lose to the Titans, the Chiefs’ chances of making the playoffs jump to 99 percent.
Football Outsider puts the Chiefs’ chances of making the playoffs at 95.5 percent. In the AFC, only the Bengals, Patriots and Broncos have a higher percentage. According to the site, the Chiefs have a 7.4 percent chance of winning the Super Bowl. Not quite time to plan the Chiefs parade, but how about that?
ESPN.com writer Adam Teicher wrote that the Chiefs’ odds of making the playoffs were 92.8 percent. That’s according to ESPN Analytics. Their chances of winning the Super Bowl is at 3.3 percent.
FiveThirtyEight has a cool feature that it updates on playoff odds. It has calculated that the Chiefs have an 85 percent chance of making the playoffs. The chances of making the Super Bowl is 4 percent.
PlayoffStatus.com shows the Chiefs have a 95 percent chance of making the playoffs and a 2 percent chance of being the Super Bowl winners.
