Whoops! Wil Myers (temporarily) a member of the Padres ... according to Wikipedia
Winter doesn’t start until Sunday, but it’s already been an active winter in baseball.
There have been some big trades and large free agent contracts.
But arguably no news could be bigger than the rumor that circulated Tuesday: outfielder Wil Myers might be headed to San Diego.
Sources: #Padres, #Rays discussing significant trade. Talks involve a number of players. Wil Myers would be main piece going to SD.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 16, 2014As the day progressed, there was more speculation that it could be a three-team deal.
But by 9 p.m., it was clear that Myers was a member of the San Diego Padres ... according to a screenshot of Wikipedia:
Of course, someone jumped the gun. Myers, who came up in the Royals’ system before being traded (with great fanfare) to the Rays as part of a deal that netted KC both James Shields and Wade Davis.
That entry was later fixed, but who knows? Maybe Wikipedia’s prediction will come true.
