Wichita State basketball coach Gregg Marshall doesn’t like seeing empty seats in the student section at Shockers’ home games.

So, he wrote a letter to students imploring them to attend home games if they have a ticket.

I love the way Marshall signed off with “Cheer Angry.”

The Wichita Eagle noted that Marshall saw empty seats in the student section in Koch Arena for games against Tulsa and Seton Hall in the last two weeks. The Eagle story said students at the Shockers’ game against Saint Louis last Sunday at Intrust Bank Arena found the letter from Marshall.

“For some reason, they’re picking up tickets with no intention of using them, and I think the reason is we’re giving out tickets three or four games in advance,” Marshall told The Eagle.

By getting the tickets so far in advance, the students may not realize they have a conflict and simply not go to a Shockers game.

“Attendance at Shockers games is both a right and a responsibility,” Marshall wrote in his letter to Wichita State fans.
