Soccer fans worried that MLS ‘rubbed out’ Sporting KC’s announcer
To say there was a moderate amount of interest in the MLS Dispersal Draft would be putting it mildly.
But a funny thing happened as MLS teams began choosing which players they wanted from defunct Chivas USA. Sporting Kansas City announcer Callum Williams was live-tweeting the event.
After tweeting that Sporting KC had passed with the third pick, Williams’ tweets stopped. Then the three tweets about the draft were suddenly gone.
MLS is the most secretive professional league in the United States, so naturally, Williams’ silence was thunderous.

Whoops! Didn't realize the dispersal draft was meant to be secret. Joined the conference call late + thought journalists were on the call.
— Callum Williams (@CalWilliamsSKC) November 19, 2014My mistake. Some great pick ups in the draft today. Looking forward to seeing how they get on with their new clubs.
