Muppets fans in Chicago were angry show was preempted after Cubs won their NLDS
A disclaimer, I do like the Muppets. It’s good to acknowledge it.
That’s because there were some irate fans of the new Muppets television show in Chicago on Tuesday night. When the Cubs beat the Cardinals and clinched the National League Division Series, it came just before 7 p.m.
Sure, it was the first time ever for a playoff clincher at Wrigley Field, but the Muppets show was supposed to air on ABC at 7 p.m. However, the Chicago affiliate (Channel 7) kept going with Cubs coverage.
Fans of the show were about as happy as Statler and Waldorf (the old guys in the balcony):
Not that I'm especially anti-#Cubs or anything, but I'm also pro-#Muppets, local ABC affiliate. I was kind of hoping to see that tonight.
— Joe Blevins (@Joe_A_Blevins) October 14, 2015Hey, @POTUS. Can you make @ABC7Chicago air The Muppets instead of jumping from Cubs coverage right into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?
— Bill Mayeroff (@bill_mayeroff) October 14, 2015Alright, Cubs fans, I get that you're stoked and stuff, but I will not stand for your post-game coverage superseding my Muppets.
— Chriscosa (@ChrisC06) October 14, 2015So, yay Cubs and everything, but they showed footage over the Muppets :( @TheMuppetsABC
— Foolish Mortal (@Disney_Sam728) October 14, 2015Hey @ABC7Chicago , you suck for preempting @TheMuppetsABC with the #cubs overreacting to winning a division series. #Muppets
— PoorestGuyInGlencoe (@Bobbyted) October 14, 2015Love the #Cubs...But coverage of people after the game is interrupting ALLLL of my TV shows! No #TheFlash or #Muppets playing in #Chicago!
— Autumn Princess (@AquariusOnFire) October 14, 2015Im officially salty about Cubs coverage bumping the Muppets on ABC
— Resurrection Joe (@JoeC2879) October 14, 2015I wanted to watch the Muppets tonight. Screw you Cubs
— Mr Rodgers 'hood (@MrRdgrsNghbrhd) October 14, 2015There are more tweets (and some used even harsher language), but you get the idea that there was not happiness in some parts of the Chicago area.
