Statcast breaks down Paulo Orlando’s 21.3 mph dash home for winning run
Andy McCullough dubbed it a “slip and slide.” Ditto for MLB.com’s Cut 4.
It didn’t appear to be the most orthodox of slides, because Paulo Orlando’s legs did sort of kick up into the air on his head-first slide. But, you know what? Who cares? Orlando scored the winning run in the 10th inning on Lorenzo Cain’s single and the Royals beat the Mariners 4-3 on Wednesday night.
Then again, Orlando was running 21.3 mph on the way to the plate and stopping isn’t always pretty.
