Sporting Kansas City’s spoof of ‘The Bachelor’ is hilarious
This is perfect on so many levels.
Sporting Kansas City made a video of coach Peter Vermes telling his players who would be going to Portland for Wednesday’s game against the Timbers.
Vermes did it in the manner of the TV show, “The Bachelor.” Portland is known as the City of Roses, and the The Bachelor uses a rose to show which woman he’d like to see stay on the show.
It’s all very humiliating and maybe that’s why the show is so popular.
Anyway, Vermes gives a rose to the players he’s taking on the road trip, and there’s even the single-camera shot of a player who airs his grievances. Tanner Tolbert of “The Bachelorette” also takes part*.
*The esteemed Rustin Dodd tells me that Tolbert and Sporting’s Matt Besler are old friends from high school at Blue Valley West.
It’s all well done and funny. Take a look:
If you’re worried that Ike Opara’s feelings might have been hurt, don’t worry. He’s still coming back from an injury and wasn’t going to travel with the team anyway.
These guys were obviously having fun.
