William Shatner on K-State marching band: Big 12 officials should ‘get their eyes checked’
This whole Kansas State band brouhaha?
Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise thinks it’s much ado about nothing. The Kansas State band tried to make a Starship Enterprise that attacked a Jayhawk during Saturday’s game, but it ended up looking more like a, well, sex act.
On Tuesday, Kansas State announced it would pay a $5,000 fine to the Big 12 and the school would suspend Frank Tracz, K-State’s marching band director, for the Wildcats’ game against Kansas on Nov. 28.
The Big 12 also publicly reprimanded Kansas State’s band.
Actor William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in “Star Trek,” read about the sanctions and this time, he couldn’t believe his eyes. (Note: the fine and suspension were issued by K-State, not the Big 12)
I think it's time for the @Big12Conference leaders to step down and get their eyes checked. What a travesty! https://t.co/VDkOOA5dUl
— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) September 8, 2015 Shatner also was dismissive of Kansas State president Kirk Schulz’s apology for the band performance:
I wonder if Mother Nature needs to apologize for cloud formations with these same people? https://t.co/wl7jFzzvHA
— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) September 7, 2015 In a subsequent tweet that included a photo of the band formation, Shatner said he saw the Starship Enterprise.
