Brandon Finnegan says Royals ‘kind of screwed me over’
Brandon Finnegan had a magical year in 2014.
College World Series with TCU. First-round draft pick by the Royals. Late-season call-up. Key contributor to the American League champions.
But 2015 hasn’t been quite as kind.
Finnegan bounced between the minors and the majors this season and spent time as a reliever and a starter. That was before he was traded to the Reds in the deal that sent Johnny Cueto to the Royals.
In an interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal (where he is with the Reds’ Class AAA team), Finnegan said:
“The Royals kind of screwed me over this year. I wouldn’t have done what I did if it wasn’t for them last year. But you could tell they just didn’t have a clue what to do with me.”
Harsh language, right?
Finnegan attempted to clarify his remarks on Twitter:

I'm not saying I was misquoted. But I never felt, or meant to say, anything bad about the KC org. I'm grateful to Royals for everything.
