Orioles’ Chris Davis fouls off a pitch and KC barbecue fans rejoice
In the first inning of Monday night’s game between the Royals and Orioles at Kauffman Stadium, Baltimore’s Chris Davis fouled off a pitch from Kris Medlen.
Nothing noteworthy about that, you say?
The ball went behind home plate and smashed into the advertising board that was touting the greatness of Sweet Baby Ray’s, which touts itself as having award-winning barbecue sauce.
Hmm. Maybe in Chicago.
It also claims: “With our barbecue sauces, marinades, dipping and wing sauces, your burgers, dogs, brisket, ribs, and fries will never taste better.”
I’m sure there are fans of Sweet Baby Ray’s around town, but c’mon, most of us can name a dozen places with better barbecue sauce in Kansas City.
Lest you think I’m a hater, I present others who noticed the good works of Chris Davis:
Chris Davis finally killed the Sweet Baby Ray's sign. Good riddance.
— Johannegmeyer (@Mutiny32) August 25, 2015 Chris Davis ripped the Sweet Baby Ray's sign! He's doing the lord's work!
— Cody K. (@notcodyk) August 25, 2015 That baseball showed Sweet Baby Ray's that their sauce is not, in fact, the boss #Royals
