Shortly after the 2025 season, Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and his wife, Maggie, made a great life decision.

They adopted a Bernedoodle puppy. That’s a mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. Rover.com said Bernedoodles are smart and stubborn and added: “A Bernedoodle can also be incredibly goofy, cuddly, and protective, depending on their parent’s personality.”

The Witts named him Barry, and he has his own Instagram account. The photos show Witt hugging and playing with Barry. Most of the Instagram posts are happy with the exception of one from earlier this month.

It seems that Barry had a wildlife run-in that any dog owner fears most: a skunk.

“The face of a puppy who got SPRAYED BY A SKUNK!!🤢🦨,” an Instagram post said as it shared the troubling news.

Dog owners have shared horror stories about the lingering stink.

But Witt said it took a few days for the couple to get rid of the smell on poor ol’ Barry. They also shared a picture of him looking spiffy after a thorough cleaning.
