For Pete's Sake

England star Jude Bellingham stopped for a meal at a West Side KC restaurant

England has made its World Cup base camp in Kansas City and the players have started to check out what the city has to offer.

While some of his England teammates left the Inn at Meadowbrook in Prairie Village and took a trip to Kauffman Stadium to watch the Royals thump the Cardinals on Thursday, Jude Bellingham on Friday headed to a West Side restaurant for a meal.

Bellingham stopped at Clay & Fire, which is located at 815 W. 17th Street.

The restaurant describes itself as “Kansas City’s destination for a dining experience reminiscent of the Near East. Our menu features dishes prepared with produce sourced from our farms in Northern Missouri and premium spices brought to us from the heart of the Near Eastern Region.”

A 2025 Kansas City Star story noted the restaurant focuses on foods from Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran but with a Kansas City twist.

The restaurant may not have had a more famous visitor than Bellingham, who scored a goal in England’s 4-2 win over Croatia in the World Cup opener for both teams. Bellingham gained international fame as a 17-year-old with Borussia Dortmund before joining Real Madrid.

A midfielder, Bellinger has scored 50 goals with 35 assists in 220 professional matches.

“Such an honor to host @judebellingham at the restaurant!” Clay & Fire wrote on Instagram. “We’re so grateful to be celebrating the World Cup here in Kansas City with you all 🌎❤️‍🔥”
