One of several underrated Kansas City barbecue spots can be found in Kansas.

Slap’s BBQ on Central Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, is not usually mentioned with some of the other big-name spots, but it has great food.

The owners of Slap’s brought some of their offerings to Washington, D.C., on Monday and shared it with President Donald Trump in the White House.

While taking with brothers Mike and Joe Pearce, who founded Slap’s, the president asked a question that sports fans around the country have been wondering.

How is Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes?

“Most importantly, how is Mahomes doing?” President Trump said.

One of the brothers responded: “He’s going to be OK.”

“You tell the people,” the President of the United States said, “we love him.”

They then discussed whether Mahomes, who suffered a knee injury late last year, will be ready for the Chiefs’ 2026 season opener.

It’s not known why Slap’s owners were at the White House, but they might have attended a Small Business Summit, which was held Monday.

Margo Martin, Special Assistant to the President and Communications Advisor, shared video of the moment on X.
