Each 2026 World Cup base camp team in KC will have a public training session
Of the four teams that will have a 2026 World Cup base camp in Kansas City or Lawrence, all but one will play a match at Arrowhead Stadium.
That’s England, which will train at Swope Soccer Village. But fans in KC will have an opportunity to see Jude Bellingham, Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane.
Pam Kramer, the CEO of KC2026, said last week that England, Argentina, the Netherlands and Algeria plan to have an open practice. The specifics have not been finalized as teams won’t be in Kansas City for at least two months.
“We’re still working on the details with FIFA and the federations and the venues on the community training sessions,” Kramer said. “There will be one for each of the base camp teams. They could be very different in what they look like. They could be small, depends on the venue and the facility, (so it) could be bigger.
“They will be free no matter what the size of the training session, but there will be one for each of those base camps still to be determined, where and when and how big.”
Defending World Cup champion Argentina will set up its camp at Sporting Kansas City’s Compass Minerals National Performance Center, while the Netherlands will train in Riverside at the Current’s facility. Algeria will make its camp at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.
