Leo Chenal shares love for Chiefs Kingdom, and they give it right back to him

What was your favorite Leo Chenal moment?

Was it when he forced 49ers star Christian McCaffrey to fumble in Super Bowl LVIII? Or when he blocked a San Francisco extra point attempt? Or the game-winning blocked field goal against the Broncos in 2024?

Chenal certainly had some big plays for the Chiefs after being drafted in 2022 out of Wisconsin. But his time with the Chiefs has come to an end as he signed a free-agent deal with the Washington Commanders.

As he leaves Kansas City, Chenal says he has nothing but good memories, especially of the fans. Chenal penned a message to Chiefs Kingdom and his teammates and coaches.

“Chiefs Kingdom,” he wrote ...

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you. You’ve consistently been incredibly kind to me and my family over the last four years. I will never forget the love, support and energy you bring to training camp, practices, game days and everything in between.

“I’m so grateful for the time I’ve had here — the championships we shared, the parades and the incredible gameday atmosphere. I never imagined I would be leaving KC, which is why I appreciate you all making it so hard to say goodbye.

“Thank you to all the brothers I’ve shared the field with. The friendships and brotherhood we built will last forever.

“Thank you to the front office for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.

“Thank you to all of the coaches — some of the best men I’ve been around — for not only making the game fun, but making the day to day and meetings something I truly enjoyed.

“I have nothing but love for Chiefs Kingdom. No matter what, Kansas City will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Fans absolutely loved what he wrote, and many responded to Chenal’s post with a message of support. There were more than 300 comments on his X post in the first hour.

“Ugh, going to miss not seeing you in the Chiefs uniform,” one wrote. “Best of luck to you with the Commanders!”

Another wrote: “Thank you for everything Leo … you will be missed more than you know!”

“You’ll always be a Chief in my heart!” wrote another. “Best of luck to you with the Commanders!”

Here are some more responses.
