For Pete's Sake

Jeremiyah Love, who hopes to play for Chiefs, once had a huge game in KC

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love made it clear at the NFL Combine that he’d love to be teammates with Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs have the ninth overall pick in next month’s NFL Draft, and Love was asked on “The Rich Eisen Show” if he’d be open to being taken by Kansas City. A few mock drafts have Love going to the Chiefs.

“Yes, yes, I would be,” said Love, who grew up in St. Louis. “Especially playing with Patrick Mahomes. I feel like he’s the best quarterback as of right now. Best in the league. I feel like he’s top one. So it would be an honor to play with him.”

Another plus for Love should he join the Chiefs: He already has good memories of playing in Kansas City.

Love attended Christian Brothers College, which won Missouri state championships in 2021 and 2022 when he was at the school.

The Cadets beat Liberty North for the 2021 title, then knocked off the Eagles the following year in the state semifinals. The latter game took place in Liberty, and Love had a massive day.

Love rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns, per SI.com. And you can still see the video — on X/Twitter — of one of his long touchdown runs against Liberty North.
