The Jets reportedly turned down Chiefs’ trade offer for running back Breece Hall
The Chiefs didn’t make a deal before the NFL’s trade deadline passed Tuesday, but general manager Brett Veach reportedly made an offer to the New York Jets.
Veach tried to acquire running back Breece Hall, who grew up in Wichita and played at Northwest High School, according to Connor Hughes, who covers the Jets for SNY.
“With Breece Hall, there was an offer on the table for a fourth-round pick for Breece Hall,” Hughes said on SNY. “I was told it was from the Kansas City Chiefs that were willing to trade for Breece Hall. The Jets were steadfast in wanting a third.”
One possible stumbling block for Veach was Hall not being under contract next season, per ESPN.
Hall, who was a star at Iowa State, has 581 rushing yards on 117 carries (5.0 yards per attempt) this season. He has run for 2,914 yards in 48 career games and also has 1,470 receiving yards with 24 total touchdowns.
Running back Isiah Pacheco missed the Chiefs’ last game because of a knee injury.
Here is Hughes talking about the Chiefs’ attempt to acquire Hall, whose stepfather Jeff Smith played for Kansas City from 1997-‘99.
