CBS Sports was thrilled when the NFL schedule-makers put Sunday’s Chiefs-Bills game on their network.

It’s the league’s marquee matchup, and Tracy Wolfson, who will be the sideline reporter for CBS on Sunday, noted an interesting piece of history in the rivalry.

“If I’m correct, Week 12 (in) 2015 was the last meeting where neither team was leading their division, so there’s a lot more at stake here,” Wolfson told The Star. “But we’ve seen this movie before. Win or lose, there’s a good chance these two teams will see each other in the playoffs with much more on the line. Every year, the goal of each offense is to put together long, sustained drives and keep (Patrick) Mahomes and (Josh) Allen off the field.

“I’m a little worried about the Buffalo defensive injuries, but hopefully they will get some guys back in time. This may be the most complete Chiefs team the Bills have seen, though.”

Kickoff is at 3:25 p.m., and the game will air on KCTV (Ch. 5) in Kansas City and on KWCH (Ch. 12) in Wichita. Wolfson’s colleagues Jim Nantz and Tony Romo will be in the broadcast booth at Highmark Stadium.

Here is how 73 national experts see the game unfolding.

A 28-24 Chiefs win is the prediction from the Sporting News’ Bill Bender. Here is part of what he wrote: “By now you know the trend, Allen is 4-1 in head-to-head regular-season matchups against Mahomes. The Chiefs, however, have found a new gear and are equipped to win this game on the road.”

A 27-26 Chiefs victory is the call from Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press. This is from his story: “Two weeks into this season, critics were saying Kansas City’s dynasty has ended. But the Chiefs (5-3) have won five of six and are playing some of their best football in years. ... Harrison Butker hits a game-winning field goal as time expires.”

A 30-27 Bills win is the outlook from the Los Angeles Times’ Sam Farmer. This is from his story: “Patrick Mahomes is having a great year, but the Chiefs don’t have a consistent running attack. The Bills often fall prey to the run. Leaning toward Josh Allen and the home team in this potential classic.”

A 28-24 Bills victory is the forecast from the Miami Herald’s Greg Cote. Here is part of what he wrote: “K.C. rides a three-game win streak sparked by Rashee Rice’s return, and the Super Bowl talk is amplifying. Buffs have stumbled after a 4-0 start and struggle to maintain AFC East supremacy over the Patriots. Would say Bills have the want/need edge here, except Chiefs don’t lead their division, either. K.C. may get its ground game cranking vs. a Buffs run-D that was bad even before star DT Ed Oliver went out injured. But still like Allen finding a way at home. Chiefs on a 1-4 skid on the road, and Buffs on a 13-1 roll in western New York.”

A 27-23 Chiefs victory is the prediction from the Arizona Republic’s Jeremy Cluff. He wrote: “With apologies to the Patriots, Colts and Broncos, Chargers and others, this game could be an AFC Championship Game preview and the Chiefs are still the defending AFC champions. Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City will win a thriller in Buffalo.”

A 36-34 Bills victory is the prediction from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac. This is an excerpt from his story: “The Bills put up 40 points last week in Carolina; the Chiefs have won three in a row by a combined score of 89-24. But those were all at home. Speaking of home, the Bills are averaging 35.7 points at their dump.”

Taking the Chiefs are five of eight CBS Sports writers: Cody Benjamin, Jared Dubin, John Breech, Dave Richard and Jamey Eisenberg. Picking Buffalo are Pete Prisco, Ryan Wilson and Tyler Sullivan. Prisco thinks the Bills will win 35-34. He wrote in part: “The Buffalo running game clicked last week, but they will need more from Josh Allen in this one. I think they get it as Allen wins a shootout with Patrick Mahomes. This game will live up to the billing.”

Picking the Chiefs are four of the five writers at NFL.com: Ali Bhanpuri (27-24 final score), Dan Parr (31-27), Gennaro Filice (30-27) and Tom Blair (27-24). Going with Buffalo is Brooke Cersosimo (26-24). Here is an excerpt of what Parr wrote: “The Chiefs are the only team with a top-five total offense and defense right now. Patrick Mahomes has clearly been the best QB in the NFL since Week 4. Meanwhile, shockingly, Josh Allen has the league’s lowest passer rating on deep passes in 2025 (29.4, min. 15 deep attempts) and Buffalo lost at home in its only game against a team with a winning record (Patriots in Week 5). It gets worse, as the Bills will be without DT Ed Oliver, the engine of their defense, as he recovers from a torn bicep suffered in last week’s win over the Panthers.”

Picking the Bills are six of the 10 Dallas Morning-News experts: Tim Cowlishaw, Joseph Hoyt, Damon Marx, Craig Miller, Abraham Nudelstejer and Kevin Sherrington. Going with the Chiefs are Dana Larson, Joey Hayden, Newy Scruggs and Calvin Watkins.

The Chiefs are the choice for seven of the 11 ESPN experts: Matt Bowen, Jeremy Fowler, Mike Clay, Moses Moody, Lindsey Thiry, Pamela Maldonado and Jason Reid. Going with the Bills are Stephania Bell, Dan Graziano, Kalyn Kahler and Seth Wickersham.

Picking the Chiefs are four of the seven Sports Illustrated writers: Albert Breer, Mitch Goldich, John Pluym and Matt Verderame. Going with Buffalo are Clare Brennan, Conor Orr and Gilberto Manzano.

The Bills will win say six of the 10 SB Nation writers: Mookie Alexander, Chet Gresham, Jared Mueller, R.J. Ochoa, Ricky O’Donnell and Matt Warren. Taking the Chiefs to win are Mark Schofield, Nick Simon, James Dator and Brandon Lee Gowton.

A Chiefs victory is the prediction from the Pro Football Talk writers. Mike Florio has KC prevailing 30-27, while Chris Simms has it ending up 27-24.

SiriusXM’s Rich Gannon sees the Bills winning, while Bruce Murray thinks the Chiefs will prevail.

The Chiefs are the choice for four of the six USA Today writers: Nick Brinkerhoff (31-27 final score), Chris Bumbaca (28-24) Nate Davis (27-23) and Tyler Dragon (28-24). Taking the Bills are Jarrett Bell (27-24) and Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (28-27).

Picking the Chiefs are five of six Athletic writers: Chad Graff. Larry Holder, Zack Rosenblatt, Austin Mock and Josiah Turner. Picking the Bills is Nick Kosmider.
