Chiefs’ Travis Kelce added CBS Sports ‘intern’ to his résumé during Sunday’s game
Tight end Travis Kelce led all pass catchers with 54 receiving yards Sunday in the Chiefs’ 31-0 win over the Raiders at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce also had the longest catch of the day with his 44-yard reception on a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Additionally, Kelce had some solid blocks and did a bit of sideline reporting.
Wait, what?
The latter happened in the first quarter Sunday. Running back Kareem Hunt was hurt on the Chiefs’ first touchdown, a 2-yard pass from Mahomes to Rashee Rice. But television viewers learned that Hunt wasn’t seriously injured ... thanks to Kelce.
“Actually, Travis Kelce came over to me and told me I should let everyone know Kareem Hunt is OK,” CBS Sports sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said during the broadcast. “They taped his left ankle, he looks good to go back in.”
CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz said: “Nice to see that Travis is working kind of as your sideline producer.”
Tony Romo then made mention of Kelce’s fiancée, superstar singer Taylor Swift, without mentioning her name.
“What a good guy. Someone’s going to get lucky with him,” Romo joked. “Whoever ends up with Travis, they’re going to be lucky.”
Here is the funny moment from Sunday’s game.
Later in the broadcast, Nantz quipped that Kelce was one of “our intern sideline producers.”
