For Pete's Sake

Angels’ Mike Trout included Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss in special trading card

The Royals will open a three-game series Tuesday night against the Angels in Anaheim, California, and they’ll face future Hall of Famer Mike Trout.

Trout hit his 400th career home run on Saturday night. Although Trout, 34, is not producing as he once did, he is a three-time MVP and 11-time All-Star, so he likely will be enshrined one day in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The only knock on Trout is his lack of playoff success. He’s played in the postseason just once. It was in 2014 when the Angels were swept by the Royals in a series in an American League Division Series.

Trout batted .083 (1 for 12) against the Royals, who advanced to the World Series in 2014.

Although he plays in southern California, Trout grew up in New Jersey, and he’s a huge Eagles fan. He’s enjoyed Philly’s playoff success.

And Trout let his Philly fandom show in one of his latest trading cards. It’s in a bat knob trading card that was released by Topps earlier this month. Trout wrote the final score of Super Bowl LIX on the bat knob: Eagles 40, Chiefs 22 and he wrote: “Fly Eagles Fly!”

Here is a look at the trading card from the Fanatics Collect Instagram account.
