For Pete's Sake

NFL highlights Tyquan Thornton’s catch. Here are more photos of the grab for KC

The Chiefs didn’t need the final touchdown they scored Sunday night in a 22-9 win over the Giants, but that drive gave us one of the signature moments of the season.

For a brief moment, it seemed that quarterback Patrick Mahomes had thrown a 34-yard touchdown pass to Tyquan Thornton. Alas, replay showed Thornton didn’t secure the catch and it seemed like a missed opportunity.

But on the next play, Thornton hauled in an incredible 33-yard catch, and he celebrated while still on the ground. The photo went viral with the NFL highlighting it on social media. “new first down signal just dropped,” the league wrote as it shared a video of the play and a photo of Thornton’s reaction.

It’s no surprise that Chiefs fans loved it, and they shared reactions like, “Hang it in the Louvre.”

Fans of other teams were equally impressed. Here are some of the reactions from people and more photos of the play that were shared on social media.
