Patrick Mahomes’ mother learned about NFL’s blackout rules the hard way
Like fans everywhere, Randi Mahomes was fired up about the Chiefs returning to action on Saturday, even if it was just a preseason game.
Before kickoff of the Chiefs’ contest against the Cardinals in Glendale, Arizona, she shared a photo of her son, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his son, Bronze.
The picture was taken by The Star’s Tammy Ljungblad last month when she spotted Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, and two of their kids at Missouri Western in St. Joseph.
“My boy and his boy, ready for game day,” Randi wrote on X. “Couldn’t be more proud and so excited for this season!!”
Mahomes’ mood changed a mere 6 minutes later when she found the game wasn’t available for her to watch, possibly because she wasn’t in the Kansas City area, where the game was shown and available to stream.
Randi Mahomes shared a photo of her TV with the Chiefs and Cardinals logos on it and the words: “This program’s blocked in your area.”
She wrote: “What’s up with this!!! NOT OK”
Ah, those pesky blackout rules. What sports fan hasn’t experienced that frustration at some point in their lives?
