Royals’ Jac Caglianone was hit in the foot and the face — by one errant pitch

Rookie Jac Caglianone has played all of 29 career games in the majors, so it’s far too early to read into his early struggles.

Caglianone, 22, is batting .148 with two home runs and four RBIs. In the Royals’ 4-0 win Sunday over the Diamondbacks in Phoenix, Caglianone got his first career stolen base.

It came after a painful moment for Caglianone, who was the Royals’ 2024 first-round draft pick.

Caglianone was hit by a pitch that managed to strike both his foot and his face. This was a crazy pitch from the Diamondbacks’ Anthony DeSclafani. And one that had to hurt.
